"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man."

A quote from Mark Twain
US humorist, novelist, short story author, & wit (1835 - 1910)

WOULD YOU?

To what - you ask?

The answer - Help out folks and animals - just keep reading below.

Although the main purpose of this website is to keep folks informed of the restoration project at Finnon Lake and its dam we also try to help out animals and folks in our own modest way.

Nature has given all of us a wonderful place to live here in the Sierra Foothills. Clean air, clear skies, trees, water, tranquility - just a great place. Yet, sometimes, humans and animals need assistance.  If you’d care to assist the following are some ways you can––  and some are 100% free, or provide tax deductions.

If you live in El Dorado County (and even if you don't) you can help out animals in need by clicking on the photo/icon below. The El Dorado County Animal Services department can use your help.

If you don't live in El Dorado County (and even if you do) and want to help shelters across the country, FOR FREE, then click on the photo/icon below. Doing so will take you to the Animal Rescue Site and once there click on the large purple button to donate .6 bowls of food to a shelter (that's 219 bowls a year).  You can also sign up to receive daily e-mail reminders to click and donate, and, again, it's FREE to help out.

For a wonderful group, one which has helps blind dogs, a group that could use, and deserves, donations please click below.

This website is dedicated to my wife who lost her battle with cancer.  I shall miss her for all the time I have left remaining. It is also co-dedicated to all those dealing with cancer, every woman, child and man across the entire planet.  No one should have to deal with disease but sadly people do.  If you are one of those folks that needs to fight then pick cancers as your enemy and help end a world wide plight that should no longer be.  Visit your local cancer center or support group and see how you can give cancer to cancer and wipe it out.

Pinocchio - the only full time resident at Finnon.

To read why click HERE

During the dam’s reconstruction the lake was empty, water was limited, fire practice was held which burned natural feed so Pinocchio needed some assistance during that time.  Now - with construction complete he should fare well - so please do not feed.  Please note that Pinocchio is a wild horse, and is BLM property.

AND FOR PEOPLE -

Folks need assistance as well.  One of the finest organizations in El Dorado County is the Snowline Hospice. Please read the excerpt below from their website, then click on the icon which will take you to their site.

Snowline Hospice is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to meeting the unique physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those who are nearing the end of life's journey. Our goal is to enhance the living, comfort the dying and support the grieving with compassion and dignity.

Hospice benefits are included in Medicare and Medi-Cal and most health insurance plans. The uninsured are also served at Snowline Hospice through funds received from the proceeds of our four thrift stores, processing center, individual donations, fund-raisers, and the United Way. At Snowline, neither patient nor family will ever receive a bill for services.
